FIFA Master - 15th Edition: It’s a Go!

FIFA Master 15th edition at Manchester United

 

The week of September 15, 2014 will most probably be marked in our minds for the rest of our lives. It is the week we started the FIFA Master, a prestigious programme in Humanities, Management and Law of Sports that we all dreamt about attending.

The selection process was long, but it was worth the wait: in the end, a diverse group of 32 students coming from all continents and from various professional backgrounds were selected.

First FIFA/CIES Programme in Poland

FIFA/CIES Programme first edition in Poland

 

Kozminski University (KU), the academic partner of the International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES) in Poland, launched the first edition of the FIFA/CIES Programme in sport management on its Warsaw campus on 25 October 2014.

The project benefits from the support of PL.2012+, the entity tasked with managing the National Stadium and opening it to many activities, including education.

New record high for expatriate presence in the big-5

Big-5 Weekly Post No.88

 

The internationalisation of football continues. The percentage of expatriate players in the five major European markets reached a new record high this season.

Henceforth, 45.9% of big-5 league players do not originate from the national association of their employer club. More information is presented in the 88th issue of the CIES Football Observatory Big-5 Weekly Post.

New publication: Governance Models Across Football Associations and Leagues

Editions CIES: Governance Models Across Football Associations and Leagues by Camille Boillat geographer at CIES and Raffaele Poli Head of the CIES Football Observatory

 

National associations and leagues share the responsibility of organising football competitions. However, governance models vary greatly at worldwide level.

This book analyses the various existing models of governance. It also studies the role of league representatives and other stakeholders in the decision-making processes of national associations.

FIFA Master 2014-2015: 31 postgraduates from 25 different countries

 

During the first fourteen editions of the programme, more than 380 graduates from over 80 countries have attended the one-year university course which is jointly delivered by De Montfort University in Leicester (England), SDA Bocconi School of Management in Milan (Italy) and the University of Neuchâtel (Switzerland).

Today, more than 90% of the course graduates are working in the sports industry for organisations that include but are not limited to FIFA, the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the Fédération Internationale de Basketball (FIBA), the Fédération Internationale de Ski (FIS), the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI), adidas, Infront, IMG and Sauber Formula 1 Team.

World Rowing Award Success for CIES Director and FIFA Master Student

Emma Twigg, student of the FIFA Master 15th edition, World Rowing Female Rower of the Year and winner of the World Championships 2014 in Amsterdam

The International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES) was proud to have links with two international rowing award recipients last week.

The prestigious 2014 World Rowing Awards were presented in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, during the 2014 World Rowing Coaches Conference gala dinner.
