Pierre Cornu, CIES Senior Legal Counsel
CIES continues to develop its legal services, in particular in the fields of association law (statutes, regulations, organisation and governance of sport associations), disciplinary law, sport betting and manipulation of competitions.
With the hiring of Pierre Cornu, CIES has further increased its legal capabilities and expertise. Master of law in 1983 (University of Neuchâtel / Switzerland), Pierre Cornu passed the bar exam two years later, after a time of practice in a law office. He then worked as an attorney, and became investigating judge in 1987. Elected as the general prosecutor of the canton of Neuchâtel in 1997, he presided over the Swiss Association of Prosecutors and also worked as an expert in Council of Europe projects, in particular about judges’ and prosecutors’ ethics and deontology.

Jair Bertoni, FIFA Master alumni and Head of Cabinet at European Professional Football Leagues (EPFL) and students from the 5th edition of the FIFA/CIES Programme in Sports Management (Cairo)
In accordance with its core mission, CIES is proposing two to three conferences in the context of each FIFA/CIES Programme in sport management organised by our academic partners. Their goal is to give an international "flavour" to the courses focusing chiefly on local and regional needs and realities. These conferences also encourage an exchange of experiences and expose students to new and practical concepts that can enrich and further professionalize sport management at the national level.
The list of speakers selected from the International University Network currently comprises around 50 professors and experts in fields closely related to those of the programme syllabus (law, marketing, communication, event management, strategic planning, etc.). These lecturers represent diverse sports entities (FIFA, IOC, CAS, EPFL, etc.), or enterprises specialising in the domain of sports. With a view to expanding our students' horizons, CIES also wishes to actively involve participants from sectors other than management per se (sport and handicap, history, development through sport, sport and racism, sport and violence, etc.).
