Welcome to the 16th Edition of the International MA in Management, Law and Humanities of Sport

The 16th Edition of the "FIFA Master" at De Montfort University’s Trinity Chapel, Leicester, UK

Thirty-two carefully selected international postgraduate students were welcomed by CIES Director Prof. Denis Oswald, General Secretary Vincent Schatzmann, Scientific Directors from the three partner universities and course alumni representatives during a special ceremony held at De Montfort University’s Trinity Chapel.

For the past fifteen years the "FIFA Master" has been a training ground for future managers in international sport business and is now firmly established as one of the leading sports management degree courses in the world.

New video for the FIFA/CIES International University Network

The FIFA/CIES International University Network has officially launched a new video to illustrate and promote its activities.

In addition to a short presentation on  the FIFA/CIES Programme in sport management, the video highlights other strengths  of the FIFA/CIES Network, namely: academic partnerships in 16 countries, being open to all sports practices and organisations, courses adapted to local needs, classes taught by international lecturers and experts as well as participation in the FIFA/CIES Network Prize and the eligibility of students for a "FIFA Master" scholarship.

Opening of the on-line application process for the "FIFA Master" 17th edition

The application form for the 17th Edition of the International Master in Management, Law and Humanities of Sport - "FIFA Master" is now accessible on-line.

As of Thursday 1st October 2015, the CIES has officially opened the application process for the 17th edition (2016-2017) of the International MA in Management, Law and Humanities of Sport - "FIFA Master" postgraduate course.

Money League: Chelsea thirteen positions below expected ranking

CIES' Football Observatory comparative analysis of expected and actual rankings in the big 5 leagues

Chelsea FC is currently ranked thirteen positions below the ranking that transfer expenditure in signing squad members would have suggested. This is the most negative gap at both English Premier League and big-5 leagues level. All data is available in issue number 121 of the Big-5 Weekly Post.

Conversely, the most positive difference so far between financial and sporting ranking in the English Premier League was measured for Leicester City: +12.

Russia: The Higher School of Economics celebrates its first graduates

Congratulations to all graduates of the HSE/FIFA/CIES Programme's 1st edition in Russia

The Higher School of Economics (HSE), which has been a CIES academic partner since 2014, celebrated the first graduation ceremony of the HSE/FIFA/CIES Programme in the wonderful surroundings of the Museum of Sport in Moscow.

After 8 months of studies and the completion of their final group project presentation, the 36 students received their diploma from representatives of the University, the Football Federation of Russia, the Ministry of Sport and CIES. It is worth noting that HSE also rewarded the best professors and lecturers from the Programme by presenting them with a certificate acknowledging their excellent teaching.

CIES attends Leaders 2015 “Sport Business Summit” in London

Visitors at the CIES booth, Leaders 2015 “Sport Business Summit” in London

The International Centre for Sport Studies (CIES) joined the Leaders 2015 convention titled “The Sport Business Summit” held at the home of Chelsea FC, Stamford Bridge, London, on the 7th and 8th October 2015. Two intensive days at the summit were filled up with networking and searching for new cooperation opportunities.

The summit gathered a wide range of key stakeholders from the world of sport, including representatives from International Federations, leagues and clubs, as well as various sports brands and media organisations. Nearly 1800 representatives from more than 50 countries were able to take advantage of presentations delivered by over 50 specialist speakers who discussed a variety of issues facing the sports industry today.
