Official reactions to the FIFA Master’s number 1 ranking in Europe in 2013

CIES - FIFA Master ranked No1 in Europe

 

The International Centre for Sport Studies (CIES), FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) and the “FIFA Master” (International Master in Management, Law and Humanities of Sport), academic partners at De Montfort University (UK), SDA Bocconi Business School (Italy) and University of Neuchâtel (Switzerland) were delighted to be ranked as the leading postgraduate sports management course in Europe by SportBusiness International for the second consecutive year in their May 2013 issue (no 189).

The FIFA Master, which was also named the second best programme in the world by the SportBusiness International 2013 rankings, scored highly in the categories of student satisfaction and the employability of its alumni to beat entries from the UK, France, Italy, the Netherlands and Switzerland.

CIES – Academic partner of the first edition of « WISE – Work In Sports Exhibition »

WISE – Work In Sports Exhibition, May 7 - 8, 2014

 

The International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES) is honored to be one of the academic partners of the first ever international convention for career development in sports « WISE – Work In Sports Exhibition » which will be launched by SINERGI Sports Consulting and MCH Beaulieu Lausanne SA and will be held at Beaulieu Lausanne in Switzerland on May 7 – 8, 2014.

WISE aims to foster career management by offering a 360° sharing platform to leaders of today and tomorrow, as well as elite and former athletes entering the business world.

Winners of the Network Award visit Switzerland!

Vincent Schatzmann, CIES General Secretary, Markus Kattner, FIFA Deputy General Secretary, the four winners of the Network Award and Bertrand Reeb, CIES President

 

The four winners of the Network Award 2013 paid an official visit to CIES and FIFA Headquarters last week. On this occasion they personally presented their project to the students of the FIFA Masters. They also discovered several tourist attractions in Switzerland.

The four winners of the Network Award: Sandra Ávila Tinoco, Fernando Corral Collantes, Erika Montemor Ferreira and Regina Schmidt Rio-Valle - who took part in the FIFA/CIES Programme in sport management at the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (URJC) in Madrid - recently visited Neuchâtel, where for nearly ninety minutes they addressed 30 FIFA Master students about certain facets of their academic work concerning the impact of debt on football clubs, its causes, and possible solutions (“La deuda de los clubes. Causas y soluciones”).

FIFA Master - Milano highlights by Oleksandr Kucheryavy

Oleksandr Kucheryavy, graduate of the FIFA/CIES Sports Management Programme at the National University of Physical Education and Sports of Ukraine, was the recipient of the first scholarship awarded by the FIFA International University Network in 2012. He spoke to us about his experiences and impressions of the FIFA Master Programme.

Several weeks ago we completed our three-month residency at the SDA Bocconi School of Management (Milan) where we were able to enhance our knowledge and develop our abilities in the areas of finance, leadership, marketing, planning and event management. It goes without saying that we have very fond memories of our time both inside and outside the classroom... notably our visits to prestigious sporting organisations.

Vincent Schatzmann, CIES General Secretary


Can you first tell us about yourself and your career path?

I’m a married lawyer, born in Lausanne in 1980. I graduated with a Master in Law from the University of Neuchâtel, completed with an LL.M (Master) in European law and in International Economic law. I also hold a Sport Management diploma. I started my career at CIES as legal counsel and I became General Secretary in 2009.
