5 STAR “FIFA MASTER” NAMED BEST IN EUROPE FOR A RECORD FIFTH TIME

The International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES) and the academic course partners at De Montfort University (Leicester, UK), SDA Bocconi School of Management (Milan, Italy) and University of Neuchatel (Switzerland) are proud to announce that the “FIFA Master” - International MA in Management, Law and Humanities of Sport course has been ranked as the top postgraduate sports management course in Europe for 2017 by the influential SportBusiness global rankings.

FIFA Youth Football Survey carried out by CIES opens pathway to further development

The FIFA Youth Football Survey was conducted in 2016 with the aim of gathering information about youth football globally. It was set up in order to evaluate the support that will be required in the future and to collate feedback in order to adapt our services accordingly. The survey collected information in nine key areas related to youth football, including youth football competitions, governance and perception of youth football and was analysed by CIES.

First CIES Football Observatory report on women’s football

Women’s football is currently undergoing a welcome development. At the elite level, the process of professionalisation is well underway in several countries worldwide. Following in the footsteps of the CIES Football Observatory studies, Monthly Report number 26 analyses the composition of squads in five of the world’s most developed leagues: four European (Germany, Sweden, France and England), as well as the Women’s National Soccer League in the United States.

New exclusive CIES Football Observatory transfer value estimates

The CIES Football Observatory research team has developed a powerful approach to estimate on a scientific basis the transfer value of professional football players. Issue number 192 of the Weekly Post presents the list of the 110 big-5 league footballers with an estimated value of more than € 40 million. Barcelona’s Neymar tops the table ahead of Tottenham’s Dele Alli and Harry Kane.

Success in Spain for CIES student

We were delighted to learn that Rosalía Ortega Pradillo, a lawyer who specialises in sports law and who is currently enrolled on the URJC/RFEF/FIFA/CIES Executive Programme in Sports Management, has been appointed as President of the Disciplinary Committee of the Spanish Olympic Shooting Federation and also as an appeal judge for the International Federation of Basque Pelota.
