CIES to launch newly created Sports Intelligence division during Soccerex USA in Miami

The International Centre for Sport Studies (CIES) attended Soccerex USA, which was taking place in Miami between Thursday 14th and Friday 15th November 2018.
During the event, CIES launched its newly created CIES Sports Intelligence Division. Fernando Roitman, the project leader, delivered the presentation ’Football governance structures at national association level: the current scenario’ on Friday 16th at 12.20pm.

Executive Football Programme Continues: Kick off for Governance module

Following completion of the first module in September on Strategic Planning and Leadership, on Thursday 8th November 2018 the second module of the Executive Football Programme focused on the topic of Governance, at CONMEBOL's headquarters in Luque, Paraguay.

This Programme is specifically designed for General Secretaries and staff of the 10 Member Associations and was set up thanks to a cooperation between CONMEBOL, FIFA and the International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES).

Most fielded U21 players: hot prospects

Issue number 240 of the CIES Football Observatory Weekly Post presents the ten most fielded U21 players in the big-5 leagues and Portuguese top division. Until last Friday, eleven U21 footballers had played the totality of domestic league minutes. Among them notably are hot prospects such as Rúben Neves, Jules Koundé, Arne Maier, Nikola Milenkovic and Rúben Dias.

The FIFA Master. A one-year, truly global, breathtaking and sports intense adventure that has far exceeded our expectations. We have spoken to our classmates, and we all agree, this has been one of the best decisions we have ever made. Three universities in three different countries, twenty-eight people representing twenty-one different nationalities, all engaging in interesting and stimulating debates with fantastic Professors. It’s difficult to get a better mix than that.

New report unveils drastic changes in European football over the past 10 years

The long-term work carried out within the CIES Football Observatory focuses, in particular, on the demographic analysis of the football players’ labour market. The surveys carried out over the past decade allow us to reveal very clear trends. As illustrated in Monthly Report number 39, the footballers’ labour market in Europe is becoming deterritorialised by a decreasing presence of club-trained players, a stronger presence of expatriate footballers and greater mobility.

FIFA Master: Two FIFA/CIES Executive Programme alumni share their first impressions

Two FIFA/CIES Executive Programme alumni, Louis Kinziger and Geoffrey Edwards, embarked on the great adventure of the FIFA Master in September. After studying Historical aspects of sport at De Montfort University in Leicester, they will travel to Milan to attend Management classes at SDA Bocconi School of Management before finishing the curriculum with a focus on Sports Law at the University of Neuchâtel.
